However, there is an increasing trend of hypertension among the people belonging to younger age group over the past decade. 6 Young hypertension can be defined as the hypertension occurring in people <40 years of age. 7 Almost one-third of young hypertension is caused by some underlying secondary causes. 8 Though secondary hypertension can be cured when compared with the essential hypertension, which usually lasts lifelong, secondary hypertension causes severe end organ damage more than the essential hypertension. 8 Hence, a holistic approach to evaluate the younger population for suspected hypertension is important.
