We compared the ExWAS signals to the gene-level collapsing results and found that 16% (316/1,968) of gene-metabolite relationships and 31% (101/331) of gene-biomarker relationships that were study-wide significant in the pan-ancestry collapsing analysis did not achieve significance in the corresponding variant-level analysis ( Tables S8 A and S8B).
