It has been argued that effective treatment of sleep disturbances may accelerate recovery in PTSD (Colvonen et al., 2019 ; Germain, 2013 ; Germain et al., 2017 ; Pace-Schott et al., 2015 ; Spoormaker & Montgomery, 2008 ), and the results of the current study suggest that focusing on improving sleep efficiency and decreasing the number of awakenings may be significant targets in the treatment of PTSD; however, more research on the content of such treatment is needed.
