Interestingly, a very recent work [ 42 ] showed higher levels of O 2 ˉ and H 2 O 2 in rice ( Oryza sativa L.) roots, after 7 days of exposure to self-DNA, compared to the unexposed control, although the experimental timing prevents us from assessing if this corresponded to a prolonged ROS production or a decreasing trend after an earlier peak.
