During the spring, at the ringing station in north-central Hungary (Ócsa) where the highest number of tick-infested birds were caught and which contributed the most balanced ratio of birds with different migratory habits to the study, there was a highly significant ( P < 0.0001) difference between the host associations of I. ricinus and H. concinna , since the former predominated on resident and short-distance migrant bird species, but H. concinna on long-distance migrants.
