5 The prevalence of UCPPS has shown an increasing trend over the years, with community-based surveys reporting a prevalence of 8% in men, but estimates are that it can be as high as 11.5% in men under 50 years of age, 5 and up to 7% of women were affected by IC/BPS. 6 , 7 Although researchers have done a lot of basic and clinical exploration, the cause and effective treatment of UCPPS are still inconclusive.
