In the two studies that reported V ̇ E as supplementary data (Gaesser et al., 1994 ; Watt & Hargreaves, 2002 ), a ∼4 L min −1 additional rise in V ̇ E was noted after adrenaline infusion in young active males performing submaximal cycling (i.e., 20 min at ∼69% of V ̇ O 2 peak and 40 min at ∼59% of V ̇ O 2 peak , respectively), but failed to reach significance.
