17 , 18 In South Korea, alcohol consumption is a common lifestyle behavior with an increasing trend over the past 40 years 19 ; more than 70.5% of men and 51.2% of women drank alcohol (i.e., consumed at least once per month) in 2018. 20 Consistent with this increase, the prevalence of ALD approximately doubled from 3.8% to 7% from 1998 to 2017, 21 which could subsequently exacerbate the cancer burden.
