Although this observation is interesting in itself, given that the pathway that PSC influences work engagement through job demands is not assumed in the extended JD‐R model 1 and that the specific mediation effect of psychological demands is quite small compared to that of job resources (see Table 3 and Appendix 3 ), the mediation effect of psychological demands in the association of perceived PSC with work engagement may not be practically significant.
