Bagher Pour and coworkers compared COVID-19 severity and its outcomes in ICU ( n = 114) and non-ICU ( n = 112) patients admitted to the Reza Hospital of Tabriz (Iran) from 10 October to 10 December 2020 [ 37 ], finding no significant differences in the serum selenium levels between the two groups (unexpectedly, they found a positive trend in ICU patients), nor when comparing those that died ( n = 56) with those that were discharged (170) before the end of the study.
