Coumarins are a highly significant class of natural products with bactericidal [ 14 ], anticoagulant [ 15 ], anti-inflammatory [ 16 ], antiviral [ 17 ], anti-HIV [ 18 ] and antitumor activity [ 19 , 20 ]; they are considered as phytoalexins for plant defense against pathogen attacks [ 1 , 21 ].
