3.2 Laboratory experimental study: Mate choice In general, males had to increase the use of refuges at high temperatures (Tukey 34°C vs 38°C, P = 0.01; Table 4 , Fig 4 ), although with a high inter-individual variability (Male refuge use variance: 34°C = 11269, 36°C = 78654, 38°C = 107728), whereas females showed the same tendency but with only marginal significance (Tukey 34°C vs 38°C P = 0.07).
