For several of the other atherosclerotic characteristics including CAC score, the associations did not remain significant, although the associations for coronary diameter stenosis ≥ 50% (OR 1.17, 95% CI 0.99–1.37, P = 0.060) and severe coronary atherosclerosis (OR 1.29, 95% CI 0.99–1.66, P = 0.051) showed borderline significance for the highest tertile of hsCRP compared to the reference (Table 3 , Fig. 1 b).
