The discrepancies between both reports would be related to the low number of human samples and the almost significant difference in the age between control and AAA groups in the study conducted by Gao et al., to the heterogeneity of human aneurysmal lesions, and, regarding preclinical studies, to differences in the mouse models of AAA [ 125 ].
