1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Pediatric mental and behavioral health (MBH) emergencies in the United States are common and there is an increasing trend of emergency department use for care. 1 Within the prehospital setting, prior literature describes MBH emergencies as the second most common illness using pediatric emergency medical services (EMS) transport 2 ; however, data regarding transport trends over time currently do not exist.
