While the results are largely concordant, we did find a small, but significant number of genomic regions with low baseline methylation (< 20%, CHG and CHH primarily) that showed highly significant decreases in methylation (based on Z-statistics), that would be easily overlooked looking only at mean shifts in methylation (Fig. 4 ).
