TotDis during the AC and NS periods (proxy for exploration) did not significantly vary between feed treatments (χ 2 = 0.46, df = 3, p = 0.93) (see Figure 7 ), but there was a highly significant effect of TL (χ 2 = 71.4, df = 1, p < 0.0001), i.e., the higher the TL, the lower the TotDis. 3.3.2.
In the present study, there was also a positive trend between growth performance and the trait exploration in the fish fed the FM diet, although not in any other experimental diet.
This study demonstrates for the first time the impact of SBM on juvenile Atlantic salmon behavior traits, showing a possible trend for plant-based diets to increase reactive coping styles, which may have adverse consequences for the welfare of fish in intensive farm systems.
