Finally, a high prevalence of pre-existing comorbidities was associated with an increased risk of developing severe COVID-19 infection; this relationship was highly significant between non-infected individuals and those with COVID-19 disease requiring hospital care; whereas a simple trend was observed among infected individuals not requiring hospital care.
