After the inclusion of the MDS-CI as a categorical variable (reference group: low-risk) in a model with a dichotomized DIPSS, the MDS-CI high-risk category retained its independent prognostic value (HR 14.64; 95% CI 4.42–48.48; p < 0.001), whereas for the MDS-CI intermediate-risk category, the prognostic impact was only of borderline significance (HR 1.97; 95% CI 0.96–4.03; p = 0.065; see Table 2 ).
