Notably, we found that although trypophobia and stress exposure were independently associated with all three symptom outcomes, the interaction effect of trypophobia and stress exposure was significant only for depressive symptoms and marginally significant for anxiety and stress symptoms, when accounting for a wide range of personal background factors.
