The overlap between malnutrition and sarcopenia may be significant [ 23 , 24 ]; for example, in a recent meta-analysis of pooled data from 7 studies of hospitalized older adults, the odds ratio (OR) for malnutrition among sarcopenic patients was 4.06 (95% CI: 2.43, 6.80) [ 25 ].
