3 , 13 However, this study also revealed a decreasing trend in the proportion of respiratory tract infection in children, although S. aureus remains a key pathogen of necrotising pneumonia in children. 14 These results indicate that we should consider gram-negative bacilli such as H. influenzae when encountering severe pneumonia in children and gram-positive bacteria such as S. aureus when observing necrotising pneumonia in children.
