We calculated the sensitivity (proportion of increasing trends in hospitalizations identified by increasing trends in wastewater), specificity (proportion of decreasing trends in hospitalizations identified by decreasing trends in wastewater), positive predictive value (PPV) (the probability that an increasing trend in the wastewater accurately indicated an increasing trend in hospitalizations) and negative predictive value (NPV) (the probability that a decreasing trend in wastewater accurately indicated a decreasing trend in hospitalizations) across the state.
