Although we have not followed these two physiologies for multiple generations as we did with swarming, the correlation between iron levels and the potential for establishing biofilms or for resisting antibiotics is not only highly significant but can be superimposed on similar data for swarming ( Fig. 4 E ), suggesting that iron memory is not restricted to swarming decisions alone.
