The number of articles published shows an increasing trend, with an annual average of fewer than two articles before 2007, significant increases after 2007, a reduction and low point during 2013 and 2014, and then increasing to a new height during 2020 and 2021 ( Fig. 2 ). 3.2 Articles’ countries of origin Identifying publications based on their national origins provides insight into both the significance given to the subject within the country and the country's degree of influence over the subject.
