They reported that 19.3% had an EI >0.3, and the risk of having an EI >0.3 increased by 7.8% per year of age, suggesting that the EI value has an increasing trend with age.[ 8 ] Although an exact comparison is impossible, this discrepancy suggests that patients with VCF in this age group have higher EI values than those presenting to the emergency department for other reasons.
