Although there is strong evidence that elevated NT-proBNP levels predict poor clinical outcomes in elderly patients with chronic HF within 90 days of acute kidney injury onset and a decreasing trend in the NT-proBNP levels is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular mortality [ 62 ], we did not notice that dynamic changes in NT-proBNP better predicted kidney outcomes in diabetic patients with stable chronic HF than the levels of this biomarker at baseline.
