We observed an increasing trend in the risk of a severe outcomes due to cancers in those with prediabetes (HR 1.17; 95% CI, 0.97–1.41) and diabetes (HR 1.27; 95% CI, 0.98–1.63) at statistically non-significant level while the risk was significantly higher in those with stage II prediabetes (HR 1.34; 95% CI, 1.08–1.65).
