Unfortunately it was shown to be impossible to analyse Sr isotopes from timbers from waterlogged contexts ( van Ham-Meert et al., 2020 , Snoeck et al., 2021 ), but as the dendrochronological comparison between the dry timber from buildings and the wet archaeological timber demonstrate highly significant correlations between these sites, we can with confidence say that the two 16th century waterfront structures at Gammel Strand are built from trees that grew in what is now western Sweden.
