We performed separate principal coordinates analysis (PCoA) based on Bray-Curtis dissimilarity and the Permutational multivariate analysis of variance (PERMANOVA) analysis, which revealed highly significant differences in both virulent ( R 2 = 0.42) and temperate ( R 2 = 0.63) phage communities between the gibbon family groups (Fig. 3a ).
