Interestingly, while not statistically significant, IL22 gene that plays a critical role in modulating tissue responses during inflammation [GO:0005125, GO:0006954], was found to be close to significance with increased expression in the birds treated with the VA2013 isolate (padj cut-off value = 0.07).
