In the global coastal ocean, the nutrient-induced NPP increase of 0.27 Pg C year −1 exceeds the climate-induced decrease of 0.07 Pg C year −1 , resulting in a positive trend in NPP (0.2 Pg C year −1 ) ( Fig. 2B ).
