Focusing on the five parents that had the best average DS scores and exhibited the strongest (and highly significant) GCA effects (Tables 2 and 3 ), the following conclusions could be drawn: Parents 18Nord-107 (GCA effect − 4.37**), ND Noreen (GCA-effect − 9.32**), and 19Nord-131 (GCA effect − 4.37**) were located closer to the origin on the Vr-Wr graph, suggesting that the three lines possess mostly dominant genes with increasing effect on resistance/susceptibility.
