Despite positive progress toward malaria elimination, the number of cases in Indonesia has seen an increasing trend since 2018 [ 3 ] and three eastern provinces, Papua, West Papua, and Nusa Tenggara Timur, continue to be affected by malaria and accounted for 95% of reported cases in 2021.
