Impact of fiscal decentralization and local government competition on the supply of basic public services: Based on the empirical evidence of prefecture-level cities in China.

It can be seen that the coefficients of fiscal decentralization on the overall supply level of basic public services and the supply levels of various types of public services such as basic education, medical and health care, and social security are all significantly negative at the level of 1%, indicating that the supply level of basic public services shows a decreasing trend with the increase of fiscal decentralization, which is consistent with hypothesis (1) above.
