Taken together, the transient decline of the stratum pyramidale in the hippocampal CA area was accompanied by a reduction of the size of NeuN‐positive neuronal nuclei and signs of higher neuronal cell density seen with a reduction of distance between NeuN‐positive cells and a small trend towards a higher cell count per area at 6.5 weeks of cuprizone treatment, although this effect was not significant.
