Other previous research indicates a negative correlation between Russula abundance and overall fungal diversity because mycorrhizal metabolites and proteins had selective antimicrobial (anti-microbial) effects, especially against rhizosphere bacterial species, leading to a decreasing trend in the diversity of fungal and bacterial species in the mycorrhizal sphere, possibly contributing to the low fungal diversity observed in GE's root and rhizosphere soil [ 66 ].
