Cell proportion estimates were found to explain large fractions of expression variance, and adjusting for cell proportions reduced the number of significant associations but improved consistency between drug subgroups, with fewer highly significant modules showing significant drug-by-response interaction effects compared to the unadjusted models [Supplementary Figure S3 ].
