As well as providing information about the scope of consumer-grade EEG devices, research domains, and research location, we note that the studies included in this review revealed an interesting trend in terms of date of publication: The number of publications using consumer-grade EEG devices peaked in 2018, then dropped slightly in 2019 the year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
