It is also important to consider that the presence of ebselen can drastically decrease the silver concentration required for antibacterial activity, with highly significant selective toxicity in bacteria on mammalian cells, which should facilitate the systemic medical application of silver in the treatment of infections by Gram-negative MDR bacteria [ 65 ].
