Imperishable effect of mastic gum on gastroparesis at 24 weeks can be interpreted by the role of alpha and beta terpenes, pinene, and limonene present in Pistacia species plants, which in turn causes improvement in delayed gastric symptoms.[ 22 23 ] In the trial patients who received Pistacia lentiscus (mastic gum) for 8 weeks, were having statistically highly significant and sustained improvement in gastroparesis symptoms at 24 weeks [ Table 3 ].
