Emergence and spread of a mupirocin-resistant variant of the European epidemic fusidic acid-resistant impetigo clone of <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>, Belgium, 2013 to 2023.

Focusing on the paediatric population, a worrying trend is observed for years 2018–2023: the proportion of mupirocin resistance reached more than 5% for the period October 2022-September 2023 and was almost systematically associated with resistance to fusidic acid (64/70, 91.4%).
