Results Haploinsufficiency of miR-146a augmented DSS-induced IBD To investigate whether miR-146a is involved in IBD, we employed RT-qPCR to quantify the expression level of miR-146a in the colon of patients, and the results demonstrated that miR-146a-3p was significantly expressed higher in the colon of patients with IBD in both the active stage and the inactive stage than that in non-IBD patients who had other types of bowel disease, and that there was an increasing trend in expression level of miR-146a-5p in the colon of patients with IBD compared to patients without IBD ( Figure 1A ).
