Concerning lipid metabolism, D patients had significantly higher triglycerides (at T1 p < 0.001, at T6 p = 0.002, at T12 p < 0.001) and total cholesterol (at T6 p = 0.004, at T12 p = 0.009) than the ND group as well as a significant reduction in HDL cholesterol at T12 ( p = 0.020); markers of lipid metabolism showed a decreasing trend in both groups during observation ( Figure 2 and Table S3 ).
