When samples from the inside and outside of syringes were examined separately, the contaminated samples from the outside of syringes had a highly significant longer examination time ( p < 0.001) of 1.88 ± 1.28 h (median 1.50 h; IQR 1.25 h) compared to 1.08 ± 0.47 h (median 1.00 h; IQR 0.55 h) for uncontaminated samples.
