[ 72 ] that as the concentration of several hydrophilic 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium cation ([C 4 mim] + )-based ILs was increased, the activity of Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) invariably showed a decreasing trend, which could be attributed to the fact that the hydrophilic ILs competed for the bounded water on the surface of the lipase, making the enzyme difficult to maintain its structural flexibility.
