In a long-term study (2001–2018) among the American population, which included 29,970 children (aged 2–19 years) and 44,501 adults (aged ≥20 years), an increasing trend of consumption of junk food products was found among children and adults, especially among non-Hispanic white and black Americans compared with Mexican Americans [ 59 ].
