The main part of this analysis is testing to see if we can consider the mother’s deficiency in vitamin D as a risk factor for the newborn, so for that we split the data into a contingency table ( Table 8 ), obtaining an extremely significant risk factor ( p < 0.001, RR > 1, OR > 1), so we can conclude that if the mother has a vitamin D deficiency, it increases the chance that the newborn will have a vitamin D deficiency more than eight times.
