Studies that validated the performance of ICESat-2 photons for deriving water depths have reported accuracy in the range of 0.20 m to 0.89 m 76 – 80 ; these results are highly significant in terms of accuracy and, by far, the best from the current operational space-borne active LiDAR sensors.
