The fact that several highly significant associations were observed only in the much smaller genome rather than the exome subgroup (i.e., gSBS16, gSBS18, gSBS34, gSBS56, gID4, gID8, gID13, gDBS1, gSBS9, gDBS10, and gDBS11) might implicate some truly differential mutagenic mechanisms acting among intergenic versus genic regions.
